2018 Caracol

The original visual identity for the bar Caracol, created by the studio Sometimes Always, was built from four shapes, nine colors and seven compositions. Within that rule set, it was possible to generate an enormous number of combinations, which were used across flyers and other graphic materials.

I was invited by the studio to help with a very practical problem: these images needed to be generated every day to promote the venue’s music programming on social media. With more than seven billion possible combinations, how could that process be made simple? My answer was to build a piece of software with an almost minimal interface: hit the space bar to generate a new image, hit enter to export it.

This ID won Gold in Branding at the Latin American Design Awards.
